The Company has been trading continuously since the early 1950's, when Peter Cox Restoration Ltd commenced operations in post-war London, which makes it one of the oldest surviving in the industry.

Stonewest Cox Restoration was formed in 1987, by the merger with The South Western Stone Cleaning and Restoration Company Ltd and Stonewest Masonry Ltd. In 1994 the name was changed to Stonewest Ltd to regularise market response.

In September of that year the Company was bought out of the Peter Cox Group by Financiere Indosuez SCA (a subsidiary of Banque Indosuez) previously the majority shareholder in Peter Cox PLC. Stonewest Ltd was then a wholly owned subsidiary of Stonewest Holdings Ltd, the ultimate parent being Credit Agricole Indosuez SCA.

1999 saw arrangements completed to transfer the ownership from Credit Agricole Indosuez SCA and in 2001 ownership of the company was transferred to the existing long serving management team who formed a new holding company, Stonewest Capital Ltd, to facilitate the purchase.

In December 2003 St Blaise Ltd was acquired. Their skilled staff and operatives who for the most part operate as an independent company genuinely enable the group to offer clients the widest possible Restoration and Conservation range of skills handling timber and plaster in addition to masonry.
