Bournemouth and Poole College

Live Project

Client: Kier
Services Provided: Conservation, Facade Cleaning & Restoration

Stonewest is back, after nearly 30 years, at Bournemouth and Poole College. Together we are futureproofing the campus, preserving this renowned, higher education learning facility.

The Stonewest team is working with Principal Contractor, Kier Construction. We have identified key areas in need of attention and will complete a series of conservation works, including cleaning and facade repairs. Our initial drone imagery confirmed construction detailing, site methodology and logistics planning, giving cost accuracy prior to commencement.

Our specialist work requires careful planning and collaboration, and we are committed to minimising disruptions to campus life whilst work is undertaken.

LATEST UPDATE

The Tudor Rose is traditionally a symbol of peace and unity. Featuring on Bournemouth & Poole College, it represents tradition, pride and history. One of the Tudor Roses on the building’s heritage stone facade was eroded and weathered beyond repair. So, our team has scanned and recorded its original details, to create an exact replica.

For increased accuracy, we are using a CNC (Computer Numerical Control) machine with diamond-tipped tools and water function to cool and clean, ensuring extreme precision when carving this intricate design. Please watch our film below to find out more.

The piece is then carefully hand-finished by our skilled masons, before being reinstalled – perfectly blending modern tech with traditional craftsmanship.
