Project Overview

Stonewest (HK) is proud to have taken part in the project to revitalise No. 12 School Street, originally known as “Hung Shing Yi Hok” or “Confucius Free School for the Poor”, into the Tai Hang Fire Dragon Heritage Centre.

The scheme has sought to preserve and pass on the heritage of Tai Hang Fire Dragon Dance which has been inscribed onto the third national list of intangible cultural heritage, preserve the local legacy of Hakka culture, and engage the community in heritage conservation.

Key Successes

  • Cleaning, restoration of the existing cast iron downpipes.
  • Dismantling and replacement of existing French steel windows.
  • Repair of timber doors and frames including supply of new ironmongery.
  • Repair and restoration of the internal floor finishes including parquet flooring.
  • Internal lime plastering to all walls, columns and ceilings.
  • Patch repairing of Chinese grey brick walls.
  • Restoration of external wall finishes including redecoration works.
  • Repair and restoration of existing steel windows including supply and installation of new glazing.
